Holdings include a group of correspondence from Van Doren to William Turner Levy (126 items, 1943-1970), one letter to Carl Rakosi (1942), one letter to John Stuart Groves (nd), one letter to John J. Sullivan (1928), and three manuscripts ("April fool," "The happy critic," and "Stronger than minds of men," nd). The Maxwell Anderson Collection includes one letter from Van Doren to Anderson (1959) as well as Van Doren's manuscript "Maxwell Anderson: 1888-1959." The Stanley Burnshaw Papers include one letter from Burnshaw to Van Doren (1963) and nineteen letters from Van Doren to Burnshaw (1951-1967). The J. Frank Dobie Collection contains two letters from Dobie to Van Doren (1927-1929) and two letters from Van Doren to Dobie (1929). The John Gassner Collection includes ten letters from Van Doren to Gassner (1945-1967). The Harper & Row Archive includes seven letters from the firm to Van Doren (1949-1959) and three letters from Van Doren (1949-1953). The Robinson Jeffers Collection contains two letters from Jeffers to Van Doren (1959) and three letters from Van Doren to Jeffers (1930-1959). The Marie Adelaide Belloc Lowndes Collection includes one letter from Van Doren to Lowndes (1945). The George Macy Companies Archive, which documents the activities of the Limited Editions Club, includes an exchange of twelve letters between Van Doren and Helen Macy (1960-1961), as well as Van Doren's manuscripts for a preface to The Book of Psalms and for an introduction to Milton's Comus. The Edgar Lee Masters Collection contains fourteen letters from Van Doren to Masters (1925-1937) and five letters from Masters to Van Doren (1925-1928). The Marianne Moore Collection includes an untitled manuscript (1964) which is a tribute by Van Doren written for inclusion in a Marianne Moore festschrift. The Charles Norman Collection includes one letter from Van Doren to Norman (1951). The Robert Raynolds Collection contains one letter from Van Doren to Raynolds (1944). The Edwin Arlington Robinson Collection includes one letter from Van Doren to Mr. Drake re Van Doren's review of Torrent, and the night before (1935). The Carlton Lake Collection of Gertrude Stein includes one telegram from Van Doren to Alice B. Toklas (nd). The Idella P. Stone Collection includes seven letters from Van Doren to Stone (1925-1932) and six Van Doren manuscripts ("Advice before marriage," "Married songs," "Memorial," "Partitions," "Report of angels," and "To a friend hesitating before change," nd). The Walt Whitman Collection includes one post card from Van Doren to John G. Moore (1945). The Thomas Wolfe Collection contains a manuscript of Van Doren's 1937 lecture at the New School for Social Research entitled "The Autobiographical novel: Wolfe." The Louis Zukofsky Collection includes twenty-seven Van Doren items (1946-1963), consisting of twenty-five letters from Van Doren to Louis and/or Celia Zukofsky, as well as one exchange between Van Doren and F. W. Roberts (1963). The HRHRC Library also holds a few signed presentation copies of Van Doren's works, as well as one folder of Vertical File material.
